The last linky party I participated in was way back in June 2010 on my EP Designs blog - I no longer blog there but all those posts have been imported into this blog. It's now five years down the track, I have a new blog and I'll be showing off whatever I can about beautiful and creative things.

I'll begin by sharing one of my picture quotes which is pretty much what my blogging will be all about. Most of these will part of my Picture Quote category. This category is fairly new and I will have more picture quotes being added regularly. The background in this picture quote is a montage of some of my past recreations.

The post before this one shows the lace doylies that have been on my creative table being recreated. I've joined in rather late into The Handmade Challenge hosted by Karen on My Handmade Adventure. Recreating the doylies was the first listed on my Challenge list. This was the boost to get me back on the creative path again. It's been a long time between creations so I thoroughly enjoyed the process.... it felt fabulous bringing out the dyes to re-colour the doylies. The pics below show the hand-dyed doylies in preparation for the next step and the finished project.... although I have some ideas on developing these further at a later date.

Finally I have to show the first signs of Spring around home. It's been slow in coming but today has been a gorgeous day. The blooms are starting to show and the Magpies are marking out their territory. Magpies were not a usual sight around here until the last big drought we had which brought into the suburbs a few Aussie bird species....and they stayed.

In the midst of  grey, bleak days of winter it’s lovely to get a splash of colour in the garden.

Welcome to Pink Saturday!

We’ve had a number of cold, grey days so far this winter.  Ok, I won’t complain about the rain because we’re still on water restrictions here & our dams will take years to fill up again …. but that doesn’t mean I can’t whinge about the cold, lol.  How lovely though to go outside and have these frilly camelias smiling back at you.

…..well they were actually from my aunt’s garden. They look so bright & happy – just what is needed to brighten up the day.

In our backyard we also found a surprise splash of colour. Here they are sitting in an unglamorous pot amongst a few gardening tools – beautiful bright pink cyclamen.

…. just right to chase the gloom away. The sun also came out long enough to snap these photos – what a difference it makes.

Roses, vintage images & beautiful things are just some of the many things that I love.

Today we are celebrating Pink Saturday’s 2nd Birthday so I decided to go into my Pink Saturday archives and dig out some of those gorgeous things I’ve shared since my first Pink post in June 2009.

Welcome and Happy 2nd Birthday to Pink Saturday!

Good china always helps make a celebration special. This teapot and tureen are so richly ornate – don’t they make you feel you’re in a grand palace in France?

The next item I found was one of my recreated pieces.  The roses you can see on the plate of the compote are decoupaged onto a motley background of pink, green and pale yellow.

I rather like the idea of filling the compote with delicious chocolates……. then eating them all with the excuse that you need to see the roses 😉

A pretty gift for the party …. a tiny, cute tassel adds more prettiness to the fluffy organza gift bag.

I think you’ll agree that roses are a favourite, so here is a lovely pink one for you.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Pink Saturday – I’ve been enjoying all your Pink Satuday posts. Let me know that you’ve dropped by and I’ll return the visit.

… And now for our weekly challenge here is one of my favourite participants I’d like to introduce you to – Do pop in and say ‘Hi’ –
Vicki of Bunny Cottage, who adds a vintage picture in her Pink Saturday posts, and has a lovely blog full of gorgeous vintage pictures and gorgeous things.

Do you ever end up with a collection of gifted items that don’t match up or belong as one set? Cups and mugs seem to be a popular gift idea but single or double they usually end up a mismatched set – different size, shape & colours ….. but is that a bad thing?

The theme here is cups & roses …. and I think this little batch looks rather fabulous.

Welcome to Pink Saturday!

Roses are always liked around here – these mugs have been gifted in the past as birthday or Mother’s Day gifts.

Drinking coffee, tea or hot chocolate from a gorgeous china cup or mug makes it taste so much better & it’s more enjoyable – don’t you think?

My son stumbled across this video on YouTube so here is something a little different to share with you for Pink Saturday!

It’s amazing how humans could be so freakishly flexible and balanced. Make sure you see the human cartwheel at the end!
…… enjoy.
