Small business owners have enough on their hands in running their business without having to deal with annoying spam. Imagine if the postman delivered thousands of junk mail to your letterbox each week and you had to check each one …. you wouldn’t stand for it. Spam comments on blogs and business can be enough to drive you around the bend. They can come flooding in like a tsunami unless you take steps to slow the flow …. or stop them completely if possible.
Ingrid Cliff from Heart Harmony describes spammers as …
……..the greatest pests to ever have existed. They are akin to plagues of locusts and cane toads in Australia. Just like all pests they are persistent – you just get one loophole plugged and they creep in another. They are the bottom feeders of the internet world.
Lol, and I’m sure many of you would add even more colourful language to describe them.
Ingrid offers some tips on how to handle these pesky pests. Her post was prompted by her experience in receiving an enormous amount of spam over the holidays. Heart Harmony is full of tips for small business owners. What I like about reading Ingrid’s blog is that you’re not having to read reams of pages to get a few tips.
This particular tip comes along at the right time for me – one of those things I’ve been wanting to look into for a while – work out how to use/activate Akismet to help reduce spam comments on my blogs. Every bit helps.
It’s done it now – thank you Ingrid …. plus I’ve made note of all your tips.
I hope you find this helpful too.
Ciao for now
If you would like a tool to manage your small business activities and Projects, you can use this web aplication:

You can use it to manage and prioritize your Goals (for business but also in other areas of your life), Projects and Tasks. It has a Checklists section, for the routines and repetitive activities that any business has to do. Also, it features a Schedules section and a Calendar, for scheduling you time and activities.
Some features from GTD are also present, like Contexts and Next Actions.
And it’s available on the mobile phone too, so you can access it from anywhere.
In the US, we have a place you can send a request to stop all junk mail. No place exist for Royal Mail?
Hi Organic Designer, Junk Mail can be stopped here too – My post is actually referring to spam comments on blogs. We don’t put up with or waste time going through junk mail so we should not have to put up with spam mail or comments. I used that photo because I made reference to the postman & mail…. it would be fabulous if getting rid of spam comments was as easy as stopping junk mail 🙂
Ok, I see haha, i was confused with the image. So in you country, you get a bag of mail and they come and pick it up? how does it work..
Oh dear, I think I have confused things with this photo, lol. The postman delivers our mail to our letter box 🙂
The mail bag is from Great Britain (rescued from being thrown out from a friend)…. I live in Australia. When I took the photo the words ‘Royal Mail’ was a bit of a ‘dig’ at junk mail and spam 🙂
I just put a “no junk mail” on my letter box. Wish we could do the same on our inbox.
There are some good tips on Ingrid’s blog. Thanks for the post Elena.
Hi Elena…thanks for dropping by Cozy Cottage and Pink Friday this evening. I love the roses theme too…who can go wrong with roses? LOL
